Yesterday, I did I demonstration on collagraph plate making and printing at CSUN for Michelle Rozic’s advanced printmaking class. The students were very engaged, asked lots of questions, and seemed really invested in learning about art making. My friend Erynn Richardson also did a demo on waxing washi prints.
And hey, if you ever want me to come demo something for your school, mention it to your professor or instructor. I do it for pretty cheap.
Some minimal advice we dispensed below the jump.
Afterwards, we spoke about our own artwork and gave advice on being an emerging artist in LA. Key points:
Get a dayjob. Art doesn’t pay much.
Get a great website and keep it clean and concise.
Make and have business cards on hand.
Disparage your artwork
Be mean to other artists
